Star Wars is an epic space-opera saga, exploring love, loss, war, freedom, knighthood, chivalry and identity all set in a futuristic galaxy where space provides the backdrop to a story of the Skywalker family.
“This is an orchestra that has the marvelous ability to shift between pathos and clear, structured thought, without exaggerated sound splitting, without theatrics. This is especially true for their conductor — Welser-Möst’s interpretation of Beethoven was exemplary in its clarity while avoiding extremes, even in the tempos.”—Badische Zeitung, August 2016

“The Cleveland Orchestra’s visit to the Philharmonie de Paris was unquestionably a can’t-miss musical event. Our expectations were fully met as we found the Austrian conductor’s interpretation of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony convincing, both in substance and in form. The orchestra upheld its reputation for excellence. This was a pertinent and intelligent interpretation, a very committed and convincing performance. Bravo!” – ResMusica (Paris), October 2017
“The balance between action and mysticism in "The Empire Strikes Back" provides fascinating energy. It's as if the kids are given one set of delights, the bravado of battles and elaborate warships zooming through exotic space, and adults are given another, a layered explanation of what it all means in the grand scheme of things. When filmmakers put the visceral and the cerebral elements together, they came up with an extraordinary movie.” – PETER STACK, Chronicle Staff Critic
“"Empire" turns out to be a stunning successor, a tense and pictorially dazzling science-fiction chase melodrama that sustains two hours of elaborate adventure while sneaking up on you emotionally.
A vast, eager moviegoing public and a suspicious press are surly waiting to examine "The Empire Strikes Back," which opens this Wednesday in 70mm and Dolby Stereo at about 125 theaters in the United States and Great Britain, including the K-B Cinema and Springfield Mall in this area.
"Empire" is a thrilling, witty, inventive continuation of "Star Wars" but it also introduces a more serious approach and springs an astonishing plot twist, which promises to keep audiences buzzing and open up the story for deeper dramatic exploitation. Surprises are in store, perhaps unwelcome if you hoped for a strictly ingratiating reprise of the original movie — but potentially electrifying if you care for a new departure.” – Gary Arnold, Washington Post Staff Writer
