The Cleveland Orchestra: Ludwig Wicki – The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King In Concert at Blossom Music Center

With the Blossom Music Center as their summer home, the Blossom Music Festival has long been one of the most exciting events on the Cleveland Orchestra’s calendar. This year, audiences will be treated to the concluding film in the Peter Jackson masterpiece based on the epic novels by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, together with the Cleveland Orchestra, Children’s Chorus, and soloists performing live under the baton of Ludwig Wicki.

The powerful, ancient forces of light and dark meet on the battlefield for a final confrontation that will determine the fate of Middle-Earth. One member of the Fellowship of the Ring is revealed as the noble heir to Isildur and the throne of Gondor, but all hope for a triumph lies with the brave hobbit, Frodo, and his loyal friend, Sam, who finally reaches Mordor to destroy the Ring of Power. Aragorn leads the forces of Good against Sauron’s evil army at the stone city of Minas Tirith and is crowned King Elessar, a name given to him by Galadriel. He becomes the 26th King of Arnor, the 35th King of Gondor, and the first High King of the Reunited Kingdom.
